Abduction in Istanbul - April 2004

A Mutant. A Babe. A five star hotel. For four days and four nights. Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!

Mutant with YetAnotherStrayKitty.

This is a washing station in The Blue Mosque. Every Muslim has to wash before he or she prays, "to come clean before Allah". Curious : every one of these lacks a stopper. Why? They must was in running water. If you ever visit a hotel in The Middle East, bring your own stoppers since the bath will be lacking them. Something that has often frustrated Mutant.

Another view of The Blue Mosque. This is an absolutely wonderful building.

Istanbul has well over three thousand Mosques; it's durn hard to walk more than 100 metres without coming across another. This is one that is visible as you leave The Blue Mosque - just to show you how closely they are packed together.

This is the Bosphorous Bridge, connecting Europe and Asia. We went to Asia over this bridge the next stay. It's the sixth longest suspension bridge in the world.

The Topkapi Palace ("Palace of the Cannon Gate") was home the Ottoman Sultans for well over 400 years. It's on the Asian side of the Bosphorous, and we saw it when we cruised past on a boat tour.

Gosh this sounds lame but there are so many awesome buildings in Istanbul we never found out what this one was. It's just upriver of the Topkapi Palace, also on the Asian side.

This was the stray pup we saw sleeping in front of the McDonalds. We visited a local buthcer and bought him the meal of his life. He was so happy he was jumping up and down....

Just your average run of the mill side street in Istanbul.

Andi enjoying a drink after our day of hiking but before dinner.

And a grim Mutant in a near by Coffee House.

We bought lots of art during our stay here. This was from a small local gallery and Andi and I each grabbed one of these paintings.
